How a point is calculated

Nothing is hidden here. This is the exact scoring system, with the coefficients as they stand in the database at the moment you read this page.

points = scale(place) × competition × stage × stakes × upset

The example: France – Spain · FIFA World Cup · July 14, 2026

First, the vote

Voting opens at the final whistle and stays open for one hour. Each member names a trio: first, second, third. Counting the ballots gives the match's top ten.

The scale by place

Every match names ten players. Your place in that top ten gives the base points. This scale is not negotiable.

Back to our France – Spain example: here is the match's top ten.

The number of voters changes nothing

The points are fixed: one hundred for first, seventy for second, and so on. Whether a match drew fifty ballots or five thousand, first place earns one hundred points. That is what stops a popular match from weighing more than another.

Fifty votes or five thousand: Pedro Porro starts from the same 100 points.

How much a competition weighs

A Champions League night does not weigh the same as a league game. That is a value judgement, and we own it.

What is at stake

Two teams playing for the same thing, the title or survival, produce a match that counts for more. This coefficient applies to the players of both teams. Duels without shared stakes are worth 1.00 and are not listed here.

The derby

A derby multiplies points by 1.50.

France – Spain is not a derby: × 1.00.

The upset

Shining against stronger opposition pays more. Unlike the stakes coefficient, this bonus only applies to the players of the lower-ranked team, and it multiplies with every other coefficient. It grows with the ranking gap and caps at +30%. It is switched off for the first five matchweeks, an early table means nothing, and in knockout rounds, where there is no table.
